2023: The Wike team is committed to staying united and focused

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has described as unfortunate the reckless public comments credited to respectable party members against him after the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries on May 29-30 2022.
Wike argued that the right thing these people should have done, especially PDP Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar or PDP National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu, would have been to reach out to him, but they did not. have not done.
The Governor of Rivers State made the accusation while speaking with reporters at the international wing of Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area, shortly after his arrived from Spain last Friday.
Wike pointed out how Alhaji Atiku Abubakar used the occasion of the unveiling of the PDP vice-presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, and his appearance on national television to lie against him.
“But there comes a time when people will understand and know the real facts. So obviously that I am speaking no doubt, to let Nigerians know the truth. Having known the truth, whatever they decide to do with it is left to the Nigerians.
“Because, you can imagine, the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, when he unveiled his running mate, no well-meaning lover of that party would say that the speech he gave That day was right. Forget the favor seekers. Forget the scavengers. But I never reacted. It’s because this party belongs to all of us.
“Afterwards he appeared on Arise Television, see the statement he made. So many lies were told, and you said I shouldn’t react to some of these issues. It wouldn’t be fair.
Wike explained that after the PDP primaries, he returned to Rivers State to focus on fulfilling the remaining promises he had made to the people of Rivers.
He said, already, that a number of completed projects have been sketched for the inauguration, and when that is done, he will answer all the lies peddled against him.
“Assuming today that I am not alive, obviously what they said would be accepted as the truth. Look at his attack dogs (Atiku): Sule Lamido, Babangida Aliyu, Maina Waziri. Look at the statements they issued. Look at the abuse they rained on me, but I never reacted.
“And Nigerians will ask, you mean these things happened? So, it’s important that as a person, and for my own future, and for those who rally around me to say, listen, this isn’t fair. So, I will be sure to respond to them, line by line, statements made by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar himself and his attack dogs.
Wike claimed he outright contested the presidential primary and came out second, so he won’t tolerate being maligned.
He insisted on speaking to the lovers at the party setting the record straight so they would know who was telling the truth.
“Look at him, a presidential candidate who believes he wants to win the election, and someone who argued with him fiercely and never raised an issue. I just kept silent, just minding my own business, to see how my condition can progress.
“But every day, his people come to attack me, to say one thing or the other. This is quite unfair, and hence, I should inform the Nigerians at the appropriate time, it will be after the commissioning of the projects that we have lined up.
“We will say: look, this is not correct, so that posterity, history will be on our side that we have been able to keep the clocks on time. So, no one should doubt that I will talk about the PDP issue, primaries issues and other related issues.
“Nigerians will know what happened, Nigerians will know who loves this country, Nigerians will know what happened behind it. And that’s to make sure I’m going to talk about it.
Wike clarified that Senator Bukola Saraki had met him in Spain, but confirmed that he had not been sent by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“So no one should think in such a direction.”
In any case, Wike wondered why Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who visited him at his residence to seek his support, does not know the way to the house he visited once.
Wike also said he was not aware of any committee set up by the PDP or the party’s presidential candidate to contact him.
“I want to say to members of the public, as far as I’m concerned, I love this party. I stayed engaged and I got to play my part. I’m not talking about leaving this party.
“I’m not one of those running around the presidential candidate saying I want to be that. I’m not one of those favor seekers, those scavengers looking for how they’re going to survive.
“After the projects we have lined up go live, we will be able to talk to Nigerians and tell them what happened. It doesn’t matter who is involved.
“I am not a slave and I will not be a slave. I am a born free from this country. I need to be able to tell how things are. Whether you like it or not, it doesn’t matter.
“So members of the public should please bear with us, that we need to set the record straight. If we don’t set the record straight, history will not be pleased with us.
