DUMFRIES Accordion and Fiddle Club met last week at Crichton Golf Club.
Although there weren’t as many local players in attendance than normal, all 12 members who showed up played hard.
On accordions were Bob Watson, Gavin Foster, John Douglas and Barbara Fisher from Dumfries, Ian Woods and Newby Park from Carlisle, and Stuart Faulds from Ayr.
William McRobert of Moffat played piano, William Little of Dumfries played flute, and Ian McRobert of Beattock and Rob Dorrance of Kirkpatrick Fleming shared the drum seat.
More than that, however, the club welcomed a set of special guests from across Scotland to play for them during the session.
Edinburgh-based Matthew Maclennan and Julia Dignan on violin were joined by Liam Stewart from Galston on piano and Nicky McMichan from Moffat on drums.
The band gave a polished performance with a varied selection of melodies and tempos that were enjoyed by the lively audience.
John Caskie thanked everyone for participating as well as all the home, visiting and support players and guests who made the evening enjoyable.
The next club meeting will be on Tuesday November 1st at the Crichton Golf Club, where Langholm accordionist Ian Anderson will be the guest artist along with drummer Eric Goodfellow.
Entrance to the meeting is £5 and free for local support players, and the club starts at 7.30pm.
