Amanda Yang releases new track “Sideline Girl”

Minnesota alternative pop singer and songwriter Amanda Yang released their very first original song after 3 years of working on covers, song rewrites and collaborative tracks with other performers.

Amanda started her musical career at the age of 15 with a handed down guitar. Born and raised in Minneapolis–St. Paul, she likes to call herself a “DIY artist and musician” because she learned to play on her own by watching YouTube tutorials.

Drawing inspiration from Shania Twain, Jason Mraz, Alessia Cara, The Lumineers and Bruno Mars, she started posting videos on YouTube in 2011.

His goal was to share his melodious voice and musical talent with the world and connect with others through acoustic covers and rewrites of famous songs. And then his career took off.

Her music has been featured on numerous editorial playlists on Spotify, and she has over 120 million streams on the platform. She has also collaborated with many artists over the years, including Lucian, AmPm and KLON.

Now, she’s finally taken the leap with the release of her first original song, “Sideline Girl.”

“Sideline Girl”: Walking the fine line between pain and hope

Inspired by R&B soul music, “Sideline Girl” is a testament to Amanda’s unique blend and sound. It features soft, engaging chords that provide an almost hypnotic listening experience, and its weak guitar and drum arrangements are accompanied by a chorus that reinforces the track’s mournful tone.

“Secondary Girl” deals with messy emotions and complex feelings, but Amanda doesn’t seem afraid to let her music do the talking. She has stated that she “approaches songwriting with an open heart”, and it shows.

A dark sense of vulnerability hangs over this new recording, which speaks volumes to anyone who feels like a secondary character in someone else’s love story.

In this case, Amanda tells us the story of a girl who was rejected by her best friend, with whom she fell in love. The track deals with the emotions involved in the process of understanding that the person you love is not reciprocating that feeling.

It is a sorrow in the flesh.

Amanda delivers this sentiment in a surprisingly expressive way, showing how much it hurts to be second choice and let someone you love go for themselves.

However, “Sideline Girl” walks the fine line between pain and hope. While he mourns the loss of a love that never materialized, he also conveys the idea that it is possible to move on. So while the lyrics may cry out for sorrow, the music whispers for hope.

It is also a deeply personal piece. You can almost hear Amanda singing right next to you while listening to the song. She’s an expressive singer with an impressive range and a transparent singing voice, so the emotional clarity of her lyrics shines through every word.

A promising future

A few years ago, Amanda made the HOT 100 Unsigned LIVE Performers list, and with her first original song, she hopes to launch what looks to be a promising career as an alt-pop performer.

But despite her future looking bright, Amanda knows how to keep her feet on the ground: she said she “owes all of her success to the listeners who have given her a platform to express herself and help others find a place to clear, heal and love through his music.
