The Saudi DJ and producer returns to the studio after a world tour.
Pioneering Saudi DJ Cosmicat is back in the studio after an eventful tour over the past two months, during which she made her Tomorrowland debut – a feat that helped bring the Arab world to the coveted Belgian festival. Following her success, the young DJ and producer recently released a haunting house track, “Set Me Free”, on Saudi label MDLBEAST Records.
Cosmicat is a self-taught musician who grew up in Saudi Arabia, spending her previous life as a dentist before devoting herself full-time to music. Cosmicat was one of the first women to shine within the burgeoning Saudi music scene, paving the way for many female Saudi musicians to follow their passion.
“Set Me Free” features a house beat with melodic elements that draw inspiration from deep house and downtempo. The track kicks off instantly with drums and an extended twangy lead, and a soft Reese bass to wrap it all up. Utilizing plenty of sci-fi hissing FX and sounds, Cosmicat correctly embraces the “cosmic” in its name. The second half of the track introduces an extra dose of intensity with an extra layer of pads and tracks that builds tension at the end of the track.
