Fisheries Minister Parshottam Rupala launches Aqua Bazar app : Newsdrum


New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, on Thursday launched an online marketplace application “Aqua Bazar” to help fish farmers and stakeholders to source inputs.

According to the ministry, the Aqua Bazaar was developed by the Bhubaneswar-based ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture with financial support from the NFDB under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMSSY).

“It is a marketplace that connects the various stakeholders involved in the aquaculture sector,” he said.

The app will help fish farmers and stakeholders to source inputs such as fish seed, feed, medicine, etc. and services needed for fish farming.

Addressing the meeting, State Minister for Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan said there is immense potential for shrimp farming in the states of Rajasthan. , Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

If aquaculture is developed in these states, they can compete with Andhra Pradesh in shrimp production. Extension services should be provided to farmers in these states, he added.

Minister of State for Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy, L Murugan, said fisheries departments should focus on infrastructure development projects, such as fishing ports, fish landing centers fish, ice factories and cold stores.

Ramesh Chand, a member of NITI Aayog, said the fisheries sector has been showing record steady growth of around 8% over the past decade. “One district, one product” should be promoted and advanced technologies should be applied in the fisheries sector.

Parshottam Rupala also released a book on “Indian Fisheries Super Success Stories” during the 9th National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) governing body meeting here, according to an official statement. PTI LUX DHW
