Bengaluru, Oct 14 (PTI) The Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered the state government to set the tariff for app-based auto rickshaw calling services within 15 days.
Last week, authorities ordered online aggregators like Uber, Rapido and Ola to immediately halt their services for auto rickshaws.
Aggregators were also warned that action would be taken if cars violated the order.
The government had argued that auto rickshaws were not covered by the license issued under Karnataka’s on-demand transport technology aggregator rules in 2016.
ANI Technologies Private Limited, which offers a service through the Ola app, and Uber India Systems Private Limited had challenged this before the HC in two separate motions.
Judge MGS Kamal, who heard the petitions on Thursday, suggested that the authorities and companies reach a compromise and make a joint submission.
The government had agreed to talk to aggregators.
On Friday, the HC ordered the government to consider suggestions from all stakeholders while deciding the tariff within 15 days.
The HC also ordered that no enforcement action be initiated against aggregators until the tariff is set.
The hearing of the case was adjourned. PTI COR RS ROH ROH
