Honor Quilts Pay Tribute to Local Veterans | New

Six veterans were honored last week for their service to their country and communities at Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City, presented with “honor quilts” to keep them warm and show gratitude for those who they have sacrificed so much to protect.

“It’s still important,” Sandy Goeller of Quilts of Honor, a local organization that distributes six quilts a year to area veterans, told The Times-Record. “I’ve done it for so many years and I don’t just think of veterans…I also made sure to recognize police officers and firefighters too, because they protected our country. It’s just…we wouldn’t be the country we are today without the service of these men and women.
