The UK government has launched a new app as part of its Better Health campaign to help families make more informed food choices.
The NHS food scanner app allows users to scan product barcodes from their purchases and the app will then provide a potentially healthier alternative, making it easier for families to switch.
To kick off the initiative, a short film by M&C Saatchi has been released that brings the discussions to life in everyday family scenarios.
“We know how difficult it can be for families to make healthier choices, especially given the past year which has had such a huge impact on our habits and routines, but it is so important to encourage families. kids eat the right food because we know it makes a huge difference to their long-term health, ”said Ian Williams, deputy director of marketing activation at the Bureau for Improving Health and Disparities.
“That’s why we’re launching the new ‘Better Health’ campaign and the new NHS Food Scanner app so parents can easily swap foods in their weekly store and find healthier choices that benefit the whole family.”
The multimedia campaign will run across England from today through March 31 and will include new editions for TV, video on demand, radio, outdoor signage, media partnerships , social media, as well as national and regional public relations activities.
“Each January brings its wave of ‘New Year, New You’ campaigns. This push goes much further, with an app designed to support real, long-term changes in the way we buy and eat, ”noted Ben Golik, Creative Director at M&C Saatchi.
“The Food Scanner app makes healthier eating a fun family activity, and the lively tone and sense of magic of the countryside really reflects that. This makes real behavior change simple, accessible, and joyful.
