Notably thanks to his time in rock icon Alice Cooper’s live band, Orianthi Panagaris has earned an excellent reputation as a guitarist. Additionally, the guitarist from Adelaide, Australia has released a whole string of solo albums of which ‘O’ in 2020 is the most recent.

These days, a follow-up, ‘Rock Candy’, hits record stores. Orianthi shows on the latest release that she is both an exceptional guitarist and a great talent for songwriting. With Jacob Bunton and Kyle Cunningham, the guitarist has recorded an album that spans the gamut of modern hard rock.

Represented are emotional outbursts like “Where Did Your Heart Go,” a rich half-ballad with plenty of creepy moments. The heaviest, rockier aspects can be found on songs like the roaring “Light It Up”, the haunting “Void” and the driving “Getting To Me”. The dark side appears in the intense and bluesy ‘Witches & the Devil’. Additionally, the album features “Red Light,” a varied song that oscillates between a wild bridge, a big chorus, and a laid-back verse.

In summary, we can say that Orianthi has once again delivered an album of the extra class. Not only is every note perfect. It is rather the good sense of the main melodic lines which makes this album a very pleasant treat to listen to.

‘Rock Candy’ is a delicious ear candy.
