Digital artwork by Ringo Star will be sold at an online auction next month under the title The Ringo Starr NFT Collection – The Creative Mind of a Beatle. This is the first NFT collection by a member of the group.
Starr’s animated paintings will feature on the non-fungible tokens, which will be bid on by fans at the June 13 event, which will be hosted by Julien’s Auctions. A “bespoke drum composition recorded and played” by the beloved artist will also be offered.
Each purchase will also include a 25″ x 25″ canvas print, signed by Starr, and access to join him, via a private post-auction invitation, on an exclusive virtual tour of his digital gallery experience and of its “virtual hanging”, RingoLand. This was created by Spatial.io for online, VR or mobile.
The pieces feature his original animated painting, and the drum composition has Ringo playing to the rhythm of each NFT’s moving images. They are stamped with a special audio/visual pattern from Ringo’s era to The Beatles.
In a statement, Ringo says, “I’ve always wanted to be a drummer, but you never know where a new idea or a new path will take you. This new technology is so outdated that it inspired me and I loved creating these NFTs combining my art and music. Who would have thought that I would spread Peace and Love in the MetaVerse.
Julien’s Auctions listing notes: “Starr’s visionary artistic and musical styles take center stage in these striking digital paintings, adding NFT’s original artist title to the ever-growing body of work and several hyphens of beloved pop culture icon.”
There will be a total of 20 NFTS available in the auction, in four different sets of works, either through bids that day or at juliensauctions.com. The auction ends in lot order at 11 a.m. PT on June 13. Proceeds will go in part to the artist Lotus Foundation charity, which helps families facing economic difficulties, supports projects dedicated to social welfare and people’s health in various fields and provides grants to help children complete their education.
