New Delhi, Oct 7 (PTI) Indians want to connect with a business the same way they chat with family or friends, a survey commissioned by tech giant Meta said on Friday, noting that a percentage highest number of adults online message a business at least once. a week, than other places in the world.

Indians increasingly prefer messaging over other forms of communication such as email, calls or website, according to the survey.

Over 70% of Indians surveyed said they would rather message businesses than email, call or visit their website. Around 75% of Indians surveyed said they are more likely to do business with or buy from a company they can contact via email.

The online survey was conducted in April 2022 in 11 countries such as USA, France, Germany, UK, Spain, India, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia , Thailand and Vietnam to more than 5,000 adults aged 18 to 65.

Keeping anonymity intact and to understand customer buying behavior, no specific products or brands were mentioned, he said.

“India wants to connect with a business the same way it chats with friends and family, according to Kantar’s global ‘Business Messaging Usage’ study, commissioned by Meta which surveyed people in countries like India where WhatsApp is the messaging app of choice,” a statement of the survey results said.

Apps under Meta include Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

The survey found that 86% of adults message a business at least once a week, which is significantly higher than the global average of 66%.

Meta’s Director of Enterprise Messaging, Ravi Garg, said, “We are seeing a massive shift in the way people and businesses communicate.”

The pandemic has changed the way people communicate with their “favorite” businesses.

“The majority (83%) of respondents expect businesses to deploy quick and easy modes of communication, such as messaging. 72% of respondents in India said they have been messaging a business more often since the onset of the pandemic,” the statement said.

With over 400 million users in India, WhatsApp is one of the most frequently used communication platforms, the statement added. PTI MBI MR
