Wellington guitarist and YouTube sensation Nick Granville performs at the Dunedin Jazz Club this Saturday night with his organ trio, with Michael Crawford on keys and Carl Woodward on drums.

Jazz club manager Bill Martin joins the ensemble in the second set on tenor saxophone.

Granville is one of New Zealand’s finest guitarists, whether he’s playing in his own combos, recording in the studio as a session musician, playing with big bands or playing in the pit for shows.

He has recorded six CDs as a conductor and has performed with many famous musicians around the world.

Granville has a considerable profile and online presence due to his pioneering work as a guitarist and educator, offering lessons, gear demos, tutorials and performances.

More recently he has explored the idiom of the organ trio.

For this special performance, Granville is joined by longtime bandmate Crawford on organ and Woodward on drums.

Originally from Dunedin, Crawford grew up playing the piano and clarinet in that city, but developed his career over time at the New Zealand School of Music, playing on cruise ships and giving concerts in London.

Currently working on a doctorate in music, he is in high demand as a jazz musician and producer for all genres of music.

The show will take place this Saturday, July 16 from 7:30 p.m. at Hanover Hall.

Tickets are available from Eventfinda and are limited to 150.

The jazz club is a licensed venue and patrons are encouraged to wear masks.
