The video shows Kataria – who has 6.3 lakh followers on Instagram – lighting up a cigarette in one of the rear rows of a SpiceJet aircraft.

Passengers are not allowed to take lighters on the plane. Passengers are also not allowed to smoke on the plane.

SpiceJet said the smoking incident happened on its Dubai-Delhi flight on January 20 when passengers were boarding the plane and cabin crew members were busy completing the procedure. boarding.

After investigation, the airline placed the passenger on a “no-fly list” for 15 days in February, it said.

Under aviation regulator DGCA regulations, an airline has the power to ban an “unruly” passenger for a period of time if they break the rules.

When video of this incident was posted to Twitter on Thursday, Scindia replied, “Investigating it. There will be no tolerance for such dangerous behavior.”

Sources from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said on Thursday that the video of this incident came to their attention in January this year and that they then wrote to the airline concerned and sent a complaint to the police. by Gurugram.

In a statement, SpiceJet said: “This refers to a social media video of a passenger smoking on board a SpiceJet aircraft. The matter was fully investigated in January 2022 when the video has come to our attention and that a complaint has been filed by the airline with Udyog Vihar Police Station in Gurugram.” The video, the inquest found, was taken on January 20, 2022 as passengers boarded flight SG 706 which was due to fly from Dubai to Delhi, it said.

“The matter has been referred to the internal committee constituted in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) on the treatment of unruly passengers (not including any SpiceJet employees). Said passenger has been placed on a ban list flight by the airline for 15 days in February 2022,” the carrier said.
