World Bank, Assam government discuss ways to fast-track projects: Newsdrum


Guwahati, Aug 23 (PTI) The government of Assam and the World Bank have decided to expedite the completion of ongoing projects and speed up the approval process for ongoing ones, an official statement said.

A meeting of World Bank delegates and state government delegates chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was held here on Monday evening during which ongoing External Assistance Projects (EAPs) and Proposed projects to be funded by the international financial institution were discussed, he said.

“Both parties have agreed to expedite the completion of the remaining parts of the ongoing projects and to expedite the approval process for the launch of those that are ongoing,” the statement said.

The World Bank delegation was led by its Regional Vice President for South Asia, Martin Raiser, and also included its Country Director for India, Auguste Tano Kouameheld.

Sarma commended the World Bank for its full support in realizing Assam’s growth potential and hoped that the relationship between the two will grow stronger as they embark on new projects and programs in the state. .

He also inaugurated the “State Public Procurement Portal” which will be a one-stop solution for public procurement of different sizes and varieties.

The portal aims to ensure transparency in the public procurement process and is the second of its kind to be launched by a state government, Sarma added. PTI DG KK KK KK
