YSFON Boss Salutes Sponsors at 57th Anniversary Celebration


The beauty of Nigeria and the artistry of Dutch football will be in the spotlight on Tuesday 12 April when visiting footballing legend Clarence Seedorf will lead a selected Heineken team against a star-studded Nigerian team in a football challenge organized by the international brand of premium Heineken beer.
Seedorf, headliner of this year’s UEFA Champions League Heineken Trophy Tour, will show Nigerian football fans as well as loyal Heineken customers why it remains such an iconic name in football, especially in regarding the Champions League.
Tidesports reports that Seedorf, the first and currently the only player to win the UEFA Champions League trophy with three different clubs, will have with him in the Heineken squad another former football star, Patrick van Uden.
Other team members include; Martin Kochl, NB Plc Supply Chain Director, Rob Kleinjan, NB Plc Finance Director along with Jelle Van der Meer, Max Crombaach and Maarten Vrolijk are part of the Heineken team with Seedorf for the face-off challenge which will take place at Landmark events. Center on Tuesday.
The Nigeria team, for its part, boasts of a healthy mix of football, entertainment and business personalities who would show off their skills against their Dutch counterparts.
Former Super Eagles stars Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Daniel Amokachi will do their thing with Davido and Reekado Banks while Allen Onyema; Air Peace CEO and Olawale Fagbemi will also show off their unique skills.
Nigerian Breweries Plc Marketing Director Emmanuel Oriakhi described the face-off challenge as another Heineken football experience that remains unmatched even though he predicts there will be a lot of fun in the five-a-side contest.
“It’s a unique football experience with a healthy mix of gladiators in football, entertainment and the corporate world. They will show their skills on the grass thanks to Heineken,” he noted.
The game, which is part of the long chain of Trophy Tour activities, takes place hours before the UEFA Champions League second leg between Real Madrid against Chelsea and Bayern Munich against Villarreal.
